Was jetzt tunYour plan for life’s big moments

Notes on use

“Was jetzt tun” (“What to do now”) is guidance for important life events in Germany. We explain procedures, the right order and usual deadlines in plain language and show which offices are responsible.

Not advice

“Was jetzt tun” does not replace legal, tax or care advice. Every case is different. If a lot of money, an inheritance, debts, maintenance or a dispute is involved, please get advice from a professional or an advice centre.

No guarantee

We check the content carefully but cannot guarantee completeness or accuracy in individual cases. Deadlines can differ, for example because of contracts, state law or special circumstances. The information from the responsible office is always what counts. Calculated dates are guide dates for orientation, not binding deadlines. For deadlines counted in working days, the public holidays of your federal state are taken into account, but local holidays and individual circumstances are not. Please check with the office named when a deadline starts and ends in your case.

Language

This English version is a translation of the German original. The official websites we link to are mostly in German. German terms are shown in brackets so that you can find them there. If in doubt, the German version applies.

If you share your plan, your answers are contained in the shared link itself. Anyone who receives the link can see this progress. So only share it with people you trust.

The read-aloud function uses your device’s speech output. Only the general texts of the page are read aloud.
